Every month, upon the recommandation of a teacher, school administrator, or a member of the community, the Star Award is given to a high school student of the Oregon School District during a brief ceremony. Parents, family members and friends get to celebrate the "Star" of the month.
The “Rising Star” program was born in 2009. 6 middle school students are selected by homeroom teachers based on the following: Optimistic outlook in school and life, Community and school citizenship, Support for others, and Academic progress. The students are recognized at the quarterly assembly in front the whole student body.
Over the last few years, the Oregon-Brooklyn Optimist Club has worked hard to help raise funds for the Splash Pad project to be finalized, for the greatest enjoyment of local families!
Several times a year, the club gathers to clean-up a segment of US-14 that we are responsible for, as part of the Adopt-a-Highway program.
It is also an opportunity to exercise and share a moment of fun with the rest of the club, while doing good!
